          ECE Departmentoffers B.E. degrees of study widely recognized for their distinction, quality and merit with the vision to attain Centre of Excellence in the field of Electronics and Communication Engineering and ambit for Research & Development activities to meet the growing global challenges of Engineering Industries and Organizations with high ethics.
           The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering was established in the year 2001 with the aim of imparting quality education to the students. It is approved by AICTE and permanently affiliated to Anna University.
          The academic performance of the students has been consistently outstanding among the affiliated colleges .The Department has produced 15 university ranks - 13 in UG degree and 2 in PG degree including a University First Rank . Highly dedicated, hardworking, well qualified team of Faculty members in the Department having considerable academic, research, consultancy and industrial experience are striving their best to provide high quality education.

Facilities

ECE Department has an exclusive block in our college.
Smart Classrooms with Teaching Aids such as Multimedia Projectors, OHP Projectors are available.
Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering have Seven spacious laboratories each provided with modern and sophisticated equipments to meet the curriculum requirements of Anna University and also to enable do the project and research work.

An amount of Rs.8,50,000/- was sanctioned for the project titled "Implementation of Wireless LAN" under AICTE MODROBS scheme.
CSIR has sanctioned a seminar Grant worth Rs.30,000/- for National Seminar on "Challenges and Opportunities in 4G Wireless systems.
DST has funded Rs.6,00,000 (Six Lakhs) Statistical characteristics of big data in the transform domain - signal processing approach.
;Two Days Workshop on "Internet of Things (IoT)" by IIT Varanasi in association with Innovians Technologies, Noida.
Department regularly conducts Workshops, Seminars and Faculty Development Programmes for the latest technological advancements funded by various agencies like CSIR, DST & Anna University.
Faculty Members & Student Members of Department are members of various Professional Chapters like IETE,ISTE and IEEE.
There has been a steady increase in the number of students placed through campus recruitment in reputed organizations Infosys, TCS, Data Patterns, ETHNUS, Solartis, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Sutherland Global Services, Mind Tree, Accenture, Polaris, CSS Corporation, Infoview Technologies.
ECE Students have won Guinness world record in Sports for the event TAEKWONDO and have also won District Championship in Swimming Competition conducted by Tamil Nadu Aquarium.

LABORATORY DETAILS Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering has Eight spacious laboratories, each provided with modern and sophisticated equipments to meet the curriculum requirements.

DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING LAB

Digital Signal Processing Laboratory is modernized with AICTE - MODROBS grant of Rs.8, 50,000/- under the Project titled "Implementation of Wireless LAN". It has 40 high end Systems that includes 23 Intel Core i3 Processor and 17 Intel Core 2 Duo Processor desktop systems and a server. To do practicals pertaining to curriculum requirements, it is equipped with fixed and floating point Digital signal processors like TMS320C50, TMS320C33, TMS320C5416 and TMS320C6711. The students get trained to solve technical problems in real time implementation.
MATLAB with Signal Processing, Filter Design, Communication, Control System, Image Processing and Simulink Tool boxes and ORCAD Capture with PSPICE are used for simulation.
This lab is also equipped with accessories like LCD projectors, OHP projectors, DVD Writer, Dot Matrix Printer and Laser Printer. All the systems are connected through high speed structured cabling with internet facility.

VLSI LAB

Very large scale Integrated Circuits Lab is equipped with 37 high end systems to do the practicals in simulation of various models in all fields. Also this lab is equipped with SPATRAN 3E Kits to design and test all the circuits. Latest software like Xilinx 9.1 ,Model sim 6.1,and Mentor Graphics are used for simulation. Both real time and simulation are done using 37 high end systems with backup facilities. Embedded lab is equipped with sophisticated modules like Actel Fusion Board, Zigbee module, various sensors like Humidity, temperature, motion & light sensors and ARM processors. Students are trained in all dimension to do projects in this area and to understand the core of the subject.

ELECTRONICS LAB-I

Electronics lab provides the platform to understand the basic practical concepts of electronics and electronic devices. This lab is well equipped with instruments like Dual Trace CRO, Function Generator, Regulated Power Supplies, Digital Voltmeters, Multimeters, Ammeters and Voltmeters etc. in the specified and required ranges. Software like ORCAD is available for the simulation of electronic circuits.

ELECTRONICS LAB-II

Electronics Lab II is well equipped with CROs, Signal Generators, Regulated Power Supplies to carry out the Electronic Devices and Circuits experiments. This lab consists of Digital IC Trainer kits for the digital lab experiments. The advanced equipments such as Programmable Logic Controller, Process Control Timer, Wireless Data Modem Kit, Buck Boost Converter Kit, Fly back Converter Kit, Auto Transformer are available to design the electronic circuits for the Electronic System Design lab.

COMMUNICATION LAB

Communication lab is well equipped with major equipments and components such as separate trainer kits are available for Amplitude, Frequency, Phase , PCM, PAM , PWM, PPM Modulation kits, Line Coding kits and Amplitude Shift Keying, Frequency Shift Keying Kits and CROs in the range of 1,20,30,50 and 100MHZ, AFO ranges from 1 MHZ to 3MHZ, ANALOG IC KIT are also available . Spectrum Analyzers are available to analyze the signals during the communication process.
Many wireless technologies are based on RF field propagation. The RF lab is well equipped with RF components such as RF source, RF detector, antenna kit, transmitter-receiver, stepper motor controller to demonstrate RF link in practical situation. The nature of the RF signal in the link is analyzed in time and frequency domains by 100 MHz CRO, Spectrum analyzer. Students are also encouraged to do mini projects in the area of RF & Communication by using the facilities in the lab.
LAB SPACE AREA: 130.2 Sq.m (15.25m x 8.54m)

MICROWAVE LAB

This lab provides opportunity for the students to enhance their knowledge in the field of Microwave & Optical Communication systems. The lab is fully equipped with X-band setup, J-band setup, Gunn setup, Tees, Directional coupler, VSWR meter, Power meter, Slotted line section, Antenna Radiation turn table, Advanced fiber optic kit, Laser Kit, Video link trainer kit, Fault locator, Connectorisation cum splicing kit, Multiplexer and Demultiplexer kit. The lab facilitates students to have a thorough knowledge of waveguides, microwave transmission & reception, voice, data transmission through the optical fiber and Mode observation of SM fibers.

MICROPROCESSORS LAB

The Laboratory is well equipped with various equipments like Traffic Light controller, Hard disk controller, Floppy disk controller, A.C. & D.C. Motor controller, Keyboard & Display controller, DMA and stepper motor. Students can perform various interfacing operations with these equipments using Microprocessor, Microcontroller and PC programming. Students are trained to get advance programming knowledge on 8085, 8086 microprocessor and 8031, 8051 Micro controller trainer kits. Also, students are encouraged to do PC Based, Microprocessor Based, Microcontroller Based Mini Projects. Area of the lab is so spacious and is 130.2sq.m.

COMMUNICATION AND NETWORKS LAB

This Lab set up is exclusively for M.E. DCN course. It includes High end systems with Latest configurations. Software like NS2 and Glomosim are available to meet the curriculum requirements.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs)

PEO I : To enable graduates to pursue research, or have a successful career in academia or industries associated with Electronics and Communication Engineering, or as entrepreneurs.
PEO II: To provide students with strong foundational concepts and also advanced techniques and tools in order to enable them to build solutions or systems of varying complexity.
PEO III: To prepare students to critically analyze existing literature in an area of specialization and ethically develop innovative and research oriented methodologies to solve the problems identified.

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES (POs)

Engineering Graduates will be able to:

1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
2. Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
3. Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
