ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

          The Post Graduate program in Construction Engineering & Management (CEM) has got approval from AICTE in the year 2012 and the course was started in the same year. The course was started with an intake of 18 and affiliated with Anna University, Chennai.

          The objective of the program is to provide an in-depth coverage of all established disciplines of Construction Engineering & Management such as Construction Organization and Contracts, Project Management and Control, Construction Methods, Cost Engineering and Software Applications etc., in line with the advancements in CEM. All the engineering departments set very high aims for our undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Our goal is to shape the graduates as professional future engineers, to be creative and innovative and to excel in their chosen field. The main aim of the course is to promote graduates' skills to take projects from design to reality. The course will provide Management and Technological Education, to shape the young engineers in recognizing, evaluating and solving constructional and business problems associated with Construction Engineering and Management projects.

VISION

The vision of the department is to provide graduates, professionals, and industry decision makers with the highest level of technical preparation, professional development, management abilities, and leadership skills for successful careers in Construction Engineering, by providing high quality education through well balanced curricular and co curricular activities.

MISSION

The mission of the department is to prepare the graduates for a professional career in Construction Engineering and Management and for life - long learning by providing undergraduates with the necessary technical skills, personal skills and knowledge in Construction Engineering and Management through theoretical and practical training.

LABORATORY DETAILS
Department of Construction Engineering & Management has Two spacious laboratories, each provided with modern and sophisticated equipments to meet the curriculum requirements.

Advanced Computing Techniques Lab
The laboratory is housed with 20 numbers of client machines connected with a server to cater the needs of the students. All the computer systems are enabled with high speed 10 mpbs internet connectivity. The laboratory is having the software tools namely Primavera Enterprise, Primavera Contractor, Primavera Risk Analyst, Microsoft Project etc. The cost of hardware is around Rs. 9 lacs and the cost of software is around Rs.13 lacs.
Advanced Construction Techniques Lab
The laboratory is equipped with major equipments like Concrete Permeability Apparatus, Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity Tester, Self Compacting concrete apparatus like L- box apparatus, V- funnel apparatus, U- box test apparatus, J- ring apparatus, and Water bath, Rebound hammer and Core cutting machine and the total cost of the laboratory is around Rs.10 lacs.
