The Department of Physics has devoted, enthusiastic and energetic faculty members. They are involved continuously in teaching & student upliftment activities and working towards the development of a scientific outlook. The faculty members are guiding the students in all the fields like Solid State Devices, Applied physics, New engineering Materials, Thermal, Electrical and Electronics for their mini projects apart from the curriculum. They are giving a clear vision and contribution of science in technical field. The laboratory is managed by one Laboratory Assistant and one Attender. The Laboratory has separate LPG gas room. It also has a separate dark room for doing optical experiments. It is equipped with sophisticated and technically advanced instruments such as Spectrometer, Potentiometer, B-H curve, Carey-foster Bridge, Ultrasonic interferometer etc., in sufficient numbers prescribed by the Anna University, Chennai. The department library is functioning with more than 260 books.
VISION
To outfit the knowledge of Physics so that the students can compete globally and to give them strong foundation in physics in order to cater the industrial and societal needs by sustaining ethical principles.
MISSION
To provide fundamentals to the students and enhancing the confidence level ethically by imparting the analytical skills and numerical ability.

PHYSICS LABORATORY
Physics experiments are designed to study the electrical, thermal and optical properties of conductors, semiconductors and insulators. Physics laboratory is equipped with modern equipments like ultrasonic interferometer for studying the characteristics of ultrasonic waves. There are few semiconductor lasers which are used to find the thickness of the powder in the micron size. The characteristics of optical fiber are also studied by using laser.
The diffraction studies using sodium light and laser by grating are also carried out. The study of refraction and dispersion of mercury light by prism is analyzed by spectrometer. The specific resistance of the thin conducting wire is measured using Carey fosters bridge. The hysteresis loss of magnetic material is also studied with the help of B-H curve apparatus. The interference of light is studied by air wedge apparatus and thickness of thin wire and paper is measured.
A separate dark room is available to perform a few optical experiments. The laboratory is fully equipped to perform experiments in physics for I year BE. / B Tech. students. Technical skills are developed and the training and knowledge obtained will be useful for them in their higher classes in Engineering and Technology.
