K.L.N. College of Information Technology, started in the year, 2001, is the first engineering college in Madurai with a focus on Information technology. It was started by the munificence of philanthropists and well-wishers in Sourashtra community, which is a linguistic minority in Tamil Nadu. The College, a co-educational one, is sponsored by K.L.N. Sourashtra College of Engineering Council consisting of eminent industrialists and academicians led by the pioneer Amarar, Thiru. K.L.N. Krishnan. The college is approved by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi and is affiliated to the Anna University, Chennai. It is also an ISO 9001:2015 Certified Institution.
The Founder President Amarar. K.L.N. Krishnan was a great visionary legend in small scale industries and had rendered yeomen service to the cause of education including women's education. K.L.N College of Information Technology is a well-known institution in Madurai and throughout Tamil Nadu. Dr. K.N.K. GANESH, an eminent Engineer and Industrialist, succeeded his illustrious father as President and Currently as Secretary of K.L.N. Sourashtra College of Engineering Council and Correspondent of KLNCIT and is assisted by other Members of the Executive Committee and the Governing Council.
Courses Offered
The College offers Five Under Graduate Programmes in Engineering & Technology - B.E.-Electronics and Communication Engineering, Eletrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, CIVIL Engineering and B.Tech.,IT and Four Post Graduate Programmes M.E. in Communication and Networking, M.E. in Construction Engineering and Management,M.E. Computer Science and Engineering and M.Tech. in Information Technology.
The Campus
The college is situated on the south eastern outskirts of Madurai, 12 km away from the city on the Madurai Pottapalayam Kusavapatti Road. The sprawling campus has eight blocks consisting of large, airy and well lighted class rooms provided with LCD, comfortable steel desks and benches.
Department of Information Technology (Block - I) has the following infrastructure : This Department has 4 well equipped labs with 180 HP & IBM Think Centre Systems. IT department faculty room - I, High performance Computing (HPC) Lab, Advance Data Science and Research Lab are provided to set practical exposure.IT department Library, NexGen lab - I & II, IT classes facilitates the Student Teaching and Learning Process.
Central Library (Block - II) has the following infrastructure and amenities :
Central library (with a considerable collection of various text books, e-books, valuable reference books, Journals, E-Journals, E-resources and Video library). Digital library and Quality Improvement Cell (QIC) with NPTEL videos are functioning in the First Floor of this block. The above resources helps the students to widen their skills.
Department of Computer Science and Engineering (Block - III) has the following infrastructure : Department of Computer Science and Engineering has 4 well equipped labs with 200 HP & IBM Think Centre Systems. It supports students to run high end applications programs. CSE department faculty room - I, CSE classes, CSE department library, Physics and Chemistry Department Faculty Room are functioning in the First Floor CSE department faculty room - II, CSE classes are functioning in the Second Floor.
CSE Department's Charles Babbage Lab with high end computer systems and Dennis Ritchie Lab with high end computer systems are functioning at first floor of Connecting Block I
This department has special interest groups that makes the students to get exposed to specific technical domain. They come out with good projects.
Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Block - IV) has the following infrastructure :
This Department has seven spacious laboratories, each provided with modern and sophisticated equipments to meet the curriculum requirements. The students get exposure to work with Android as well as IoT related projects.
Electrical Machines Lab, Electrical Circuit Lab are functioning in the Ground Floor.
EEE Classes, EEE Faculty room, Power Electronics Lab, Control systems lab, Measurements & Instrumentation Lab, and Power System Simulation Lab with high end computer systems are functioning in the First Floor.
EEE Classes, Electrical Circuits and Devices Lab, Engineering Practice Lab, EEE Department Seminar hall, are functioning in the Second Floor. Students use to visit nearby Electrical Industries to acquire knowledge about real time environments.
Department of Civil Engineering (Block - V) has the following infrastructure :
This Department of Civil Engineering has eight spacious laboratories, each provided with modern and sophisticated equipments.
Survey Lab, Hydraulic Engineering Lab, Soil Engineering Lab, Environmental Engineering Lab and Transportation Lab are functioning in the Ground Floor.
Civil classes, Civil Engineering department seminar hall, CADD Lab with 70 high end computer systems are functioning in the First Floor.
Civil classes, Civil Engineering department Faculty room, Civil Engineering Department Library, Strength of Materials Lab are functioning in the Second Floor. Consultancy works are under taken that serves many industries. Students are highly exposed to structural design and also in may softwares like Auto CADD etc.
Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (Block - VI) has the following infrastructure :
This Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering has Eight open research facilities, each furnished with current and refined types of equipment.
Digital Signal Processing Lab with high end computer systems, VLSI Lab/Embedded Lab with high end computer systems are functioning in the Ground Floor.
Electronics Lab I & II, Communication and RF Lab, Microwave and Optical Communication Lab, Microprocessor and Microcontroller Lab, ECE Department faculty room - I, ECE Classes are functioning in the First Floor.
ECE classes, ECE department Library, Digital Communication and Networks Lab with high end computer systems are functioning in the Second Floor. Inter disciplinary projects are under taken by the students to prove their technical skill in multi disciplines.
Campus Services
In tune with modern trends in office practices, the college has introduced Automation to facilitate speedy handling of students and staff data. Seven bore wells in the campus supply adequate water to the three overhead tanks with a capacity of 12,000 liters each. In addition to that there are four underground sumps with a capacity of 16,000 liters each to augment the ground water level. Sufficient provisions are made for rainwater harvesting at each block. Reverse Osmosis units are installed in block I to provide safe and pure drinking water to the students and the staff members. The campus provides good facilities for both indoor and outdoor games. There are separate hostels for boys and girls. The college provides Transport facilities for all the Students and Staff. A 24 hours Emergency Van is available for the staff & students in case of emergency. State Transport buses also ply up to via the college. An inhouse dispensory facility is available for students and staff.
A Vinayagar Temple has been constructed on the eastern side of the administrative block. Mahakumbabishegam of the temple was performed on 2009.
